Banana Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 eggs, separated
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. mashed bananas
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 c. sour milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (walnuts)
Preparation
    In small mixing bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form, set aside.
    In large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar, beat in egg yolks and mix well.
    Add bananas. Combine flour and baking soda.
    Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
    Beat well after each addition.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites and nuts. Pour into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Cool on wire rack.
    Garnish with whipped cream.
