Burnt Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. cold water
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. sugar, melted
    1/5 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients; beat 5 minutes.
    Add baking powder 1/2 cup flour and vanilla.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Add 1/2 cup sugar melted to which has been added boiling water and cooked to a syrup.
    Fold in slowly.
    Bake in 2 layers in 350\u00b0 oven.
    Frost with caramel or favorite frosting.
