Apple Skillet Pie(First Place Winner) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 or 8 red Delicious apples
    3 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    1 stick oleo
    puff pastry
    1 c. glaze (apricot, strawberry, peach or blackberry)
Preparation
    Peel, core and halve the apples.
    Place apples in a bowl and toss with lemon juice.
    Pour sugar into heavy large cast iron skillet.
    Add water to cover.
    Cook sugar and water until it turns blonde in color.
    Add oleo.
    Sugar will crystallize.
    Remove from heat; add apples, standing on end around skillet.
    Bake 30 minutes at 400\u00b0.
    Remove from heat; place sheet of puff pastry over top. Trim.
    Bake 30 minutes more.
    Remove and cool 15 minutes.
    Place plate over pie and invert onto plate.
    Glaze with flavor of choice.
