Basic Doughnut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. shortening or oil
    1/2 Tbsp. nutmeg or equal amount of cinnamon or vanilla
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 c. flour
    1 c. milk
Preparation
    Cream shortening and 1/2 cup sugar.
    Add eggs.
    Beat well. Mix other dry ingredients (except last 1/2 cup sugar) in separate bowl.
    Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients.
    Beat well; add last 1/2 cup sugar.
    With a tablespoon, fill doughnut.
    Makes about 18 doughnuts.
