Southern Spoon Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. boiling water
    1 c. white corn meal (plain kind)
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. milk
    2 eggs, separated
Preparation
    Mix water, cornmeal, salt and shortening.
    Cool.
    Add milk and beaten egg yolks; mix well.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into a greased baking dish and bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
    Serves 6 to 8.
