Frozen Waldorf Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9 oz.) can crushed pineapple, well drained (retain syrup)
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1/4 c. lemon juice
    2 1/2 c. diced apple
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. celery, diced
    1/2 c. chilled whipping cream or canned milk
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Chill a bowl and rotary beaters.
    Mix together in a saucepan the eggs, sugar, lemon juice, salt and reserved pineapple syrup. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is slightly thickened (about 20 minutes).
    Remove from heat.
    Cool.
