Autumn Apple Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
2/3 c. chopped walnuts
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. sifted plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. raw apples, peeled and coarsely grated
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs.
Sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Add to egg mixture, alternating with apples.
Stir in lemon rind and nuts.
Bake in greased and floured loaf pan in preheated oven at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
Makes 1 loaf.
Cool before slicing.
