Ingredients

1 1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
8 Tbsp. dark molasses
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. ginger
2 eggs
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Add molasses and eggs; beat well.
Add flour and dry ingredients.
Roll into small balls and roll in sugar; press (not thin).
Place 2-inches apart on cookie sheet.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes.
Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
