Icebox Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 1/2 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 c. bran
    1 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. salad oil
    2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. raisins (optional)
    1 c. dates (optional)
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over 2 cups bran and set aside.
    Cream oil and sugar.
    Add eggs, beat well.
    Mix in buttermilk and dry ingredients.
    Add bran mixture and 1 cup dry bran.
    Add options.
