Boiled Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. raisins
1 c. shortening
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ground cloves

Preparation

Bring all of the ingredients to a boil.
Remove from heat and, when cool, add 3 cups sifted flour and 2 teaspoons baking soda. Pour into a baking dish and bake at 350\u00b0 for about 30 minutes or until done.
Add the caramel frosting to the cake top after cake is well cooled.
