Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. cornstarch plus a pinch
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. milk
4 egg yolks, slightly beaten (save whites for meringue)
2 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate, mixed with 1 Tbsp. and 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

In a saucepan, mix together sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Blend milk and egg yolks.
Gradually stir into sugar mixture.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens.
Let boil and stir for 1 minute.
Remove from heat; blend in chocolate and vanilla mixture.
Pour in baked 9-inch pie shell.
Cover with meringue and brown slightly.
