Ingredients

6 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. oil or melted butter
1/2 tsp. anise extract
1 tsp. vanilla
4 to 5 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Mix eggs and sugar.
Add oil, anise and vanilla.
Mix flour with baking powder.
Add flour mixture to egg mixture slowly, beating well after each addition.
Let dough rest 1 to 3 hours or overnight (makes it easier to handle).
Form into loaves approximately 1/2-inch thick and 2 to 3 inches wide.
Don't let loaves touch.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Let cool. Slice diagonally into 1/2 to 3/4-inch slices.
Sprinkle with sugar and toast slices in pan in oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until slightly brown.
Store in sealed container.
You can add 12 ounces chocolate chips to the recipe with the eggs and sugar.
