English Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 lb. butter
    1/4 lb. oleo
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook in iron skillet or heavy pan until mixture is toffee colored (about 10 to 12 minutes over medium-high heat, stirring constantly).
    Pour into a buttered 9 x 13-inch pan so toffee will be about 1/4-inch thick.
    Across the hot candy, lay 3 small Hershey bars.
    When chocolate melts, spread smooth.
    Sprinkle with 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
    When cold, break into pieces.
