Ever Ready Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. milk, scalded
    1/4 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 yeast (or 3 for quick rolls)
    1/4 c. lukewarm water
    3 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Combine scalded milk, sugar, shortening and salt.
    Cool to lukewarm.
    Add egg.
    For about 20 minutes, let yeast soften in 1/4 cup warm water.
    Add to milk mixture.
    Gradually add flour and knead well.
    Place bowl of dough in warm place to rise about 1 hour.
    Make out rolls and let rise again or place in refrigerator and use as needed.
