Cream Of Broccoli Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 qt. water
10 oz. pkg. frozen chopped broccoli
3/4 c. finely chopped onion
2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 tsp. pepper (more or less to taste)
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 c. shredded American cheese
1 c. half and half or milk
1 c. whipping cream
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/3 c. flour
1/2 c. cold water
Preparation

In 3-quart saucepan, bring 1 1/2 quarts water to a boil.
Add broccoli and onion.
Boil 10 minutes.
Add seasonings and cheese; stir until cheese melts.
Add milk, cream and butter.
Stir and heat to boiling.
Slowly add water to flour, stirring constantly, until texture is smooth.
Slowly add to hot mixture, stirring rapidly.
Cook and stir until soup is the consistency of heavy cream.
Serves 8 to 10.
