Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. warm milk
2 Tbsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
5 Tbsp. coffee
3 beaten eggs
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
juice and grated rind of large orange
1 level tsp. soda, dissolved in 2 Tbsp. warm water
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar; add molasses and milk.
Mix and sift flour, salt and spices and add to mixture alternately with beaten eggs.
Add orange juice, and last, the soda dissolved in warm water.
Beat until smooth.
Bake in a loaf pan in a moderate oven 45 to 60 minutes.
