Ingredients

1/2 lb. or 1 c. sweet butter
1/4 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. finely chopped almonds or pecans
1 egg yolk
2 Tbsp. almond flavoring
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
Preparation

Cream butter in electric mixer until it is light and fluffy and add confectioners sugar, slowly beating all the time.
Add egg yolks and almond flavoring.
Sift baking powder with sifted flour and fold into mixture and add nuts.
Knead mixture gently, add more flour to keep hands from sticking.
