French-Fried Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1 Tbsp. oil
    2/3 c. water
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 egg white, beaten
    sweetened ice water
    large Bermuda onions
Preparation
    Slice onion 1/8-inch thick, using only large middle slices. Separate rings and cover with ice water sweetened with sugar.
    Let stand 2 hours.
    Drain thoroughly and wipe dry.
    Combine flour, salt, oil and the 2/3 cup water.
    Add oil and fold in beaten egg white.
    Dip each onion ring in the batter and fry in deep, hot fat until golden brown.
    Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt to taste.
