Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. oleo, softened
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 Tbsp. grated orange peel
1/4 c. orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Cream first 3 ingredients; beat in eggs.
Slowly beat in buttermilk, peel, juice and vanilla.
Stir together flour, baking powder, soda and salt; blend into batter.
Stir in chopped nuts. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
Pecan half may be placed on each cookie.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
