Grandma'S Pound Cake - cooking recipe

2 c. sugar (1 lb.)
2 c. butter (1 lb.)
4 c. flour (1 lb.)
10 eggs (1 lb.)
Preparation

Beat yolks and whites of eggs separately; cream butter and cream sugar into it. Add egg yolks and mix well. Add stiff egg whites alternately with flour. Long beating of air into this mixture is the success of this cake according to Grandma. Grandma always beat the mixture by hand in a large wooden mixing bowl. Pour mixture into a greased cake pan and place into a moderate oven (325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0) for 1 to 2 hours.
