Hot Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1 c. warm water
    1 egg
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 to 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl.
    Let stand five minutes.
    Add sugar, shortening, egg, salt and half of the flour; beat at low speed until smooth.
    Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.
    (I find it is best to reserve part of the flour to knead the bread with.) Knead 8 or 10 times.
    Place in well-greased bowl.
    Cover and let rise until doubled.
    Punch dough down on lightly floured surface and knead 4 or 5 times.
    Grease hands well and shape in rolls.
    Let rise again.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 until golden.
