United States Senate Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. white beans, soaked overnight
    3 qt. water
    3 onions, chopped fine
    1 clove garlic, minced
    ham bone with meat on it
    1/2 c. cooked mashed potatoes
    1 bunch celery, chopped fine
    1/4 c. parsley
Preparation
    Put soaked beans, ham bone and water in kettle. Simmer 2 hours.
    Add mashed potatoes when beans are half cooked.
    Stir and mix thoroughly.
    Add onion, celery, garlic and parsley.
    Simmer 1 hour longer.
    Remove ham bone and chop ham in pieces.
    Return ham pieces to kettle before serving.
