Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, sliced (medium)
    8 small onions, sliced
    5 c. vinegar
    6 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 c. salt
    1/2 tsp. powdered mustard
Preparation
    Mix cucumbers and salt.
    Let stand 3 hours in crushed ice. Drain; put in large pot.
    Pour in mixture of other ingredients. Heat to boiling point, but do not boil.
    Put in jars and seal.
