Fruit Cocktail Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, beaten
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 large can fruit cocktail, drained
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix together egg and sugar.
    Sift together flour, baking soda and salt, then add to egg mixture.
    To this, add the drained fruit cocktail and vanilla.
    Spread in buttered 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Mix together brown sugar and chopped nuts and sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Top with whipped cream.
