Caramel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. Karo (light)
    1 can sweetened condensed milk (Eagle)
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 lb. pecans (optional)
Preparation
    Mix everything together in a 2-quart saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat until hard ball stage (approximately 245\u00b0), stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; add nuts, if used.
    Pour hot liquid into a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Cool in pan until bottom is not hot to the touch.
    Turn out on a marble slab or lightly buttered surface.
    Cut into cubes and wrap in wax paper or cut into cubes and dip in chocolate.
