Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    1 beaten egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over dates and baking soda.
    Mix remaining ingredients.
    Add first mixture to second and bake at 375\u00b0 in a 9 x 12-inch greased loaf pan for 30 to 35 minutes.
