Beef Stew With Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. raw beef
2 c. potatoes, peeled and cut in pieces
1/3 c. turnips, cut in pieces
1 small onion, cut in pieces
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Bee Brand black pepper
Preparation

Wipe meat with damp cloth.
Cut in cubes.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and dredge in flour.
Cut off the fat and fry out in frying pan.
Add meat and stir constantly in order to sear the surface.
When nicely browned, put in saucepan.
Cover well with boiling water and let boil for 10 minutes, then cook at simmering temperature for about 3 hours.
Add more water if necessary during cooking.
Add vegetables during last hour of cooking and thicken with 2 tablespoons of flour rubbed smooth with a little cold water.
