Pasta A La Vodka - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium shallot, finely chopped
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 large can crushed tomatoes
    2 tsp. dried basil
    1 pt. half and half
    1/2 c. vodka
    1 lb. penne or rigatoni, cooked as directed
    salt and crushed red pepper to taste
Preparation
    Saute shallot in olive oil and butter.
    Add crushed tomatoes (Red Pack is nice and chunky).
    Season with salt and crushed red pepper flakes.
    Add basil and simmer about 1/2 hour.
    Add half and half; simmer 10 to 15 more minutes.
    Add vodka and continue simmering 15 minutes longer.
    Stir often.
    Let stand, covered, while cooking pasta.
    Enjoy!
    Sauce can be frozen, if leftover.
