1 (8 oz.) Pitted Dates, cut up
1 tbsp. Margarine
1 Egg
3\\4 C. Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 C. Boiling Water
1 1\\2 C. Flour
1\\2 tsp. Salt
1 C. Walnuts, coarsely chopped
Preparation

Sprinkle baking soda over dates. Pour boiling water over dates, add margarine. Let cool. Mix together all other ingredients. Add to date mixture. mix well. Turn into well greased loaf pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45-50 min. Test with toothpick before removing from oven. Serve with butter or whipped cream cheese.
