Chocolate-Date Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/4 c. dates, cut up
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1/2 c. walnuts
1 pkg. chocolate bits

Preparation

Cover dates with boiling water.
Mix Crisco, sugar and eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients.
Add dates and chocolate bits.
Bake in 9 x 12-inch pan for approximately 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Cool and sprinkle with xxxx sugar.
