Chocolate Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/4 c. Karo syrup
    4 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 egg yolks
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla flavor
    1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
Preparation
    Scald 1 3/4 cups milk with chocolate in top of double boiler over boiling water.
    Measure cornstarch in small mixing bowl and blend with remaining 1/4 cup milk.
    Mix in sugar and salt.
    Add egg yolks and beat.
    Add quickly all at once to scalded chocolate milk and stir constantly until thickened.
    Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes longer.
    Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla.
    Cool. Pour in baked shell.
    Top with whip cream or make your own meringue.
