Twice Cooked Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. white corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    dash of salt
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Stir sugar into corn syrup, water and salt, until dissolved. Boil to medium-ball stage (240\u00b0).
    Beat egg whites until stiff. Pour 1/3 of syrup over egg whites.
    Beating constantly, cook remaining syrup to very hard ball stage (265\u00b0).
    Beat syrup into candy mixture.
    Continue beating until stiff.
    Cool 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    When mixture holds its shape when dropped from a spoon, add vanilla.
    Drop from teaspoon onto buttered cookie sheet.
    Makes 4 dozen pieces.
