Ingredients

1 1/2 c. jam
1 c. shortening
3 egg yolks, beaten
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. buttermilk
3 egg whites, beaten until stiff
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks and jam.
Beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately with milk.
Beat vigorously after each addition.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in tube pan at 325\u00b0 until done.
May use three 9-inch layer pans and frost.
