Homemade Cream Of Tomato Soup(4 To 6 Servings) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can (2 1/2 c.) tomatoes
    2 Tbsp. chopped onion
    1/4 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 bay leaf
    1 whole clove
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. milk
Preparation
    Put canned tomatoes, chopped onion, celery seed, sugar, bay leaf and whole clove in saucepan.
    Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Make white sauce of butter or margarine, flour, salt, pepper and milk.
    Force tomato-seasoning mixture through strainer or food mill to make tomato puree.
    Stir puree slowly into white sauce and heat for 1/2 minute.
    Serve immediately in hot soup bowls and garnish with croutons, parsley flakes or chopped chives.
