Hearty Slovak Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 large onion, chopped (1 c.)
    3 small Idaho potatoes, unpared and cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 medium apple, cored, unpared and chopped (1 c.)
    1 medium clove garlic, minced
    1 pkg. (1 lb.) sauerkraut, drained
    1 can (14 1/2 or 16 oz.) tomatoes, chopped
    1/2 c. beef broth
    1 lb. Polish sausage (Kielbasa), cut in 3/4-inch slices
    1 tsp. caraway seed
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
Preparation
    In Dutch
    oven\tor
    large
    pot, melt butter; add onion, potatoes, apple
    and
    garlic.
    Cook 5 minutes, stirring often. Stir in sauerkraut, tomatoes, broth, sausage, caraway seed and pepper.
    Cover
    and
    simmer

    minutes or until potatoes are tender.
    Makes 4 hearty servings!
