Danish Bakeless Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. vanilla wafers
    2 eggs
    2 small or 1 medium can crushed pineapple
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. pecan or walnut pieces
Preparation
    Melt butter in double boiler.
    Add sugar and egg yolks creamed together.
    Beat well and let come to a boil.
    Remove from stove. Add pineapple and nuts.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    On bottom of pan or dish, place a layer of wafers, then a layer of custard mixture.
    Make 3 layers of wafers and 2 of custard mixture.
    Put in refrigerator for about 12 hours or longer.
    Whip 1 pint of whipping cream and sweeten to taste.
    Prepared topping may be used.
    Put topping on servings.
