Cheese Strata - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Italian bread
    1/4 lb. butter or margarine, softened
    2 1/2 c. grated cheese
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard
    1 tsp. salt
    4 eggs, slightly beaten
    2 1/2 c. milk
Preparation
    Trim crust and butter bread. Cut bread into quarters.
    Place in an 11 x 7-inch buttered dish.
    Top with cheese.
    Add another layer of bread and cheese; have 2 layers. Whip mustard, salt, milk and eggs.
    Pour over bread.
    Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 to 60 minutes. Cut in small squares for appetizers or cut into large 4 x 4-inch squares for lunch. Serve lukewarm or cooled.
