Banana Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening or butter
1 1/2 c. (4 or 5) bananas (best if overripe or brown)
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
2/3 c. buttermilk (optional)
black walnuts (optional)
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 375\u00b0.
Combine butter and sugar until mixed.
Add eggs, vanilla and bananas, beating with wire whisk. Add salt, baking soda, baking powder and finally flour.
Mix until well blended.
Stir in buttermilk, then walnuts, if desired.
Bake at 375\u00b0 until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Makes approximately 2 to 3 loaves.
