Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    1 c. diced onion
    1/2 c. cubed raw potatoes
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1/2 c. diced celery
    1 c. shredded cabbage
    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1/4 c. raw rice
    1 small bay leaf, crushed
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1 leaf sweet basil
    4 tsp. salt
    dash of black pepper
    1 1/2 qt. water
Preparation
    Place hamburger and onion in a large kettle; brown meat. Drain fat.
    Add potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage and tomato sauce.
    Bring to a boil.
    Sprinkle rice into mixture.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
