Vegetable-Beef Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. garlic salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    3 large potatoes, thinly sliced
    2 large onions, thinly sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen English peas, partially thawed
    1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Brown ground beef in a large skillet, stirring to crumble. Drain and set aside.
    Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat.
    Add flour, stirring until smooth.
    Gradually add milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
    Stir in salt and pepper.
    Set sauce aside. Layer half of the beef, potatoes, onions, peas and sauce in a lightly greased 2 1/2-quart casserole dish.
    Repeat layers, ending with sauce.
    Cover and bake at 375\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
    Sprinkle with cheese and bake, uncovered, for an additional 5 minutes.
    Yields 6 servings.
