Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sliced cucumbers or yellow squash
    1 c. vinegar
    1 c. onion
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. each: celery seed, mustard seed and turmeric
Preparation
    Put cucumbers or squash and onion in pan with good bit of salt; pour boiling water to cover and let stand 1 hour.
    Pour off water, then add spices, sugar and vinegar.
    Cook 20 minutes after starts to boil, then place in jars and seal.
