English Toffee - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter (1 c.)
1 c. sugar
5 Tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. finely chopped almonds
1 (8 oz.) bar sweet chocolate, grated
Preparation

Cover bottom of an 8 x 12-inch pan with foil that has been buttered.
In pan, sprinkle half of nuts, then half of the chocolate.
Bring butter, sugar, water and salt to a boil.
Boil to 300\u00b0.
Pour mixture over chocolate layer in pan and let cool slightly.
Sprinkle remaining chocolate on top, then sprinkle remaining nuts on top.
Press lightly with back of spoon. Refrigerate.
When hard, break into pieces.
