Congo Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening or oleo
    1 lb. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips or butterscotch chips
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and baking powder.
    Melt shortening with sugar and cool before mixing with flour mixture.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Add vanilla, chips and nuts.
    Bake in a greased and floured cake pan (9 x 13-inch) at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
    Cut into squares.
