Burnt Sugar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 c. boiling water
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    3 egg yolks
    1 c. cold water
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Burn 1/2 cup sugar; add 1/4 cup boiling water, stirring.
    Set aside to cool.
    Cream 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup butter.
    Add 3 egg yolks, 1 cup cold water and 2 cups flour and beat.
    Add well beaten egg whites and 1/2 cup flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon vanilla and the burnt sugar.
    Mix well and bake in 13 x 9-inch loaf pan.
