Spice Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c brown sugar
    1/2 c white sugar
    1 c shortening
    1 t salt
    1 t nutmeg
    2 t cinnamon
    1/2 t cloves
    3/4 c water
    1 c raisins
    2 1/2 c flour
    1 t baking soda
Preparation
    Stirring constantly, boil for 5 minutes.
    Let cool to almost room temperature (must be cool so the flour won't lump).
    Add 1 t baking soda and 2 1/2 c flour; stir well.
    Pour batter onto greased and floured pan.
    Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes. (Less time for thin bars).
