Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

3/4 c. shortening
3 eggs
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 small bottle red food coloring
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

In small bowl, mix cocoa, vinegar and red food coloring.
In large bowl, beat sugar, eggs and shortening.
Mix in contents from small bowl; mix well.
Add vanilla, salt and soda.
Gradually add flour and buttermilk alternately.
Makes 3 (9-inch) round layers. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes, or until done.
