Hearty Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 cans Bush's navy beans
    2 slices bacon
    1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 tsp. minced garlic
    2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
    2 c. water
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    1/8 tsp. red pepper
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    4 tsp. parsley flakes
Preparation
    Cook bacon in a large heavy saucepan until crisp.
    Remove bacon and add green pepper, onion and garlic.
    Cook 5 minutes.
    Add tomatoes which have been mashed or cut into small pieces.
    Stir in navy beans along with salt, pepper and sugar.
    Simmer 30 minutes. Add crumbled bacon and parsley flakes.
    Cook 5 minutes more.
    Serve in warm soup bowls.
