2 1/4 c. self-rising flour
1/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. sesame seed
1 tsp. grated orange peel
2/3 c. orange juice
1 Tbsp. solid vegetable shortening
oil (for frying)
confectioners sugar (optional)
Preparation

In a medium bowl, stir together flour, sugar, sesame seed and orange peel.
Stir in orange juice and shortening; knead to form a soft dough.
On a lightly floured board, roll out dough to 1/8-inch thickness with a lightly floured rolling pin.
Cut dough into 3 1/2 x 1 1/2-inch rectangles.
Make a lengthwise slit in the center of each and bring one end through center to make a twist.
