Date Loaf Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. milk
    1 c. chopped dates
Preparation
    Combine sugar, milk and butter in a saucepan; cook to soft ball stage.
    Add dates and nuts.
    Continue cooking until dates are dissolved or until small amount forms a small, firm ball in cold water.
    Pour out on a damp cloth and shape into a 2-inch roll. Chill in refrigerator until firm and slice
    in 1/2-inch slices.
