Holiday Prime Beef Tzimmes - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lb. brisket
1 lb. pitted dried prunes
1 1/2 tsp. seasoned or plain salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 small can tomato sauce
1 1/2 c. boiling water
6 carrots, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
6 sweet potatoes, in 1 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 c. honey
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 onions, cubed
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 c. white raisins (optional)
Preparation

Brown meat in oil on all sides.
Sprinkle seasoning over meat; add prunes, tomato sauce, raisins and boiling water.
Slowly simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours.
Add vegetables and cook until almost done.
Add honey and lemon juice; mix and simmer a few minutes until blended.
Serves 6.
